Prepare your child for the path. Do not prepare the path for your child.
That's what parents do today. They try and smooth things over, make the path easy for children to navigate. We need to have our kids be able to overcome obstacles and be resilient. We need to launch them and let them figure out their own way. That's not what we do today.
Watching the Olympics. They had curling. Big curling fan. I have no idea what the rules are, but they let this gentle rock go and they launch it into the world. And instead of just watching it, these parents come up with the brushes and they try and smooth the path for the curling stone.
That's what we do with our kids. We need to let them go and stop brushing the road for them. This has been an Olympic moment.
