Saw an Instagram post — we celebrated so-and-so's fourth birthday for 10 days. I'm exhausted but exhilarated. I'm going on record — outlaw half birthdays too.

Sometimes Instagram annoys the hell out of me. I saw a post and it said, oh, what a great 10 days. We celebrated so-and-so's fourth birthday. I'm exhausted but exhilarated.
What? A 10-day celebration for a four-year-old? People think I'm curmudgeonly. I love children. I think their birthdays should be fun. But give them one birthday, not a 10-day celebration.
And then — I'm going on record as saying I think it should be outlawed to celebrate half birthdays. Especially if you're a kid whose parents tend to ignore you and don't pay attention to you, and 90% of the time when you're with the kid you're on your phone doing something. Then you celebrate their birthday and you throw in an extra half birthday, and you think you're nailing it.
No. Get off your phone. Pay attention to your kids. One day. Birthday. Birthdays is not a word. Birthday.
