What is love? I'll tell you what love is not.
I had a friend — kind of crazy. Married a woman, kind of crazy. Believe it or not, their relationship was kind of crazy.
He tells a story. She's in their house that they live together in. She's on the third floor. He's crouched down behind their car in the driveway. She's firing bullets at him and he's crouched down behind the car, and his bullets are whizzing over his head. And he looks at her and she's firing at him and he says, god, that woman must love me. God, she's crazy about me. I'm just crazy about her. I can't wait for her to run out of bullets and we're going to fix this fight. We're going to live happily ever after.
That's not love. That's mistaking intensity for intimacy.
You want a good marriage? Sometimes you've got to sacrifice some of the roller-coaster ride for a little stability. Stability is good.
