Do you know what the greatest thing in the whole world is? I hear it's being a grandparent. I can't wait.
Let me tell you about a legendary grandparent I met once. They had a big house with a pool and she wanted to be a destination for her kids to bring their kids. She wanted to be a fun grandma house. It was a pool house. In the pool house were bunks.
In order to be old enough to qualify to live in the bunkhouse and not live in the main house, a kid had to be old enough to swim back and forth — two laps unaided. Then they were big enough to sleep in the bunk beds in the pool house.
So these grandkids would show up and the big kids would be there and the little kids couldn't wait to learn how to swim — to be independent enough to go sleep in the bunkhouse with the big kids. It was a rite of passage.
Isn't that a lovely metaphor? Doesn't that sound like a cool grandma? I wish I had one like that.
