A friend of mine who should know better just out of the clear blue sent me a link for Girl Scout cookies. Now, I know he's got a six-year-old girl, seven-year-old girl. I said, why are you doing this? He said, what do you mean? I said, she needs to learn how to sell. That's the purpose of Girl Scout cookies. Have her call me.

Kid called me. She told me about the different cookies. She learned something about how to be present for an adult and look them in the eye and have a real conversation.

Anybody comes to work with a checklist for, you know, you buy Girl Scout cookies or a form for you to buy Boy Scout popcorn — not only are they over-functioning as a parent, but they're hurting their kids by cheating them out of the opportunity to learn how to look an adult in the eye and say, hey, would you like to buy something? That's a pretty good skill to learn when you're young.

Had a reaction to this? Let's talk.
