You've Got to Trust the Universe

I'm an old dad; my daughter's 18. I was like 47 when she was born. So I know she's going to have a significant part of her life where I'm not around. But all I can do is just teach her and just trust she's going to be okay.

When you say worry about safety leaving them with a nanny or a stranger, you've got no choice. I've had people say, "My kid's never doing a sleepover." I'm like, are you crazy? Sleepovers are the greatest thing in the whole world. Why would you deny—well, because bad stuff happens at a sleepover.

Yeah, bad stuff happens at a sleepover. Bad stuff happens with coaches and teachers and clergymen and Boy Scouts. You name it. There's no shortage of places that are dangerous for kids.

But you've got to trust. You've got to trust the universe. Yeah, you want a nanny cam? You could have a nanny cam or two, but once you trust your nanny, let it go.

With your kids, have the "good touch, bad touch" talk... Then: Trust the universe.
