In this video, Dr. Gore discusses managing screen time and why parents shouldn't be afraid to set boundaries.
I tell my kids that it's evil. You know, that sh*t's not good. But they still have unlimited access to their phone because they've proven to be responsible.
I have other families where their kids will be on their phone 12, 14 hours a day and I say something incredibly brilliant like, "You need to limit your kids' time on their phone."
And they're afraid to do it because they want to be friends to their kids, they don't want their kids to be mad at them.
So short answer is, I teach my kids, "This is not life," and have at it. And we try and use it for good, not for evil.
I personally find Instagram, I see some really inspiring stuff that I save and I share it with these guys.
All you could do is just guide them, and then if that doesn't work, put the damn phone limit lock thingy. But I have to find some young person to show me how to do the phone limit lock thingy.
The phone limit lock thingy means Screen Time on iPhone, Digital Wellbeing on Android, Screen Time with Family Sharing on Apple, or Family Link on Google.
